Cultural competence is a start—but having that sense that someone “gets You” is a skill that we are capable of infusing our sessions with for our clients. In this workshop, we’ll move beyond theory and into real, everyday strategies for making therapy more inclusive, responsive, and effective. Learn how to center identity, values, and lived experience in every session without relying on assumptions or checklists.
You’ll discover how to:
- IHow to integrate cultural, systemic, and relational context into case formulation
- Ways to ask thoughtful questions that open stories—not assumptions
- Collaborative techniques that honor your clients’ worldview and voice
- Creative tools to focus on what truly matters to each client
- A clear approach for weaving multicultural awareness into your clinical process naturally and intentionally
Who is this for?
This training is for therapists who work with diverse populations and want to deepen their cultural responsiveness in a grounded, practical way. It’s especially helpful for those working in community mental health, schools, cross-cultural settings, or with clients navigating issues of migration, race, class, gender, or faith.
Led by Esther Krohner, LMFT
Esther is a licensed therapist and international trainer with deep experience supporting couples, families, and individuals through systemic, solution-focused care. She is known for her ability to bring warmth, clarity, and creativity into complex relational dynamics. A long-time trainer and associate director of the Brief Therapy Center, Esther’s approach is grounded in respect, adaptability, and empowering change—one meaningful conversation at a time.
